From January 8th to January 12th, Prof. Martin Mönnigmann (RUB Bochum) and David Müller (RUB Bochum) visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of STU in Bratislava to intensify cooperation in the field of robotics. The visit was carried out within the Horizon Europe Project FrontSeat.

It was the purpose of the visit to get an insight into the robotic laboratories and the associated research topics of the faculty of electrical engineering, led by Prof. František Duchoň. The flight lab, in particular, offered space for discussion to find solutions for recurring problems. But ground robotics also offered opportunities for new approaches of control engineering and thus for further cooperation. The second part of the visit covered the continuation of the development of intuitive gesture control for UAVs together with Marek Čorňák. Marek Čorňák visited RUB last year for four weeks, bringing his expertise regarding image-based gesture recognition to Bochum.

Thanks to our colleagues at STU Bratislava for their hospitality and the opportunity to gain deeper insights into their research.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon under grant no. 101079342 (Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries).
