On June 13, we organized a scientific seminar titled “Industry 4.0 and Plant Automation: Understanding the Requirements and Needs”. Yuri Shardt, a professor at Technical University of Ilmenau, led the seminar, which was organized within the framework of the FrontSeat project as part of the “Research Seminar on Smart Cybernetics” series.

Abstract:
As plant automation becomes more of a realisable goal, the question becomes what can be expected and how this can be organised to drive plant automation. This presentation will examine the different stage of plant automation and seek to understand what is required in order to achieve them. Comments about the required control and modelling methods will also be considered. Finally, a brief discussion of artificial intelligence and its effects on plant automation will be considered. The objective is to understand the potential future direction for control and automation.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon under grant no. 101079342 (Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries).
