One of the highlights of the Consortium Meeting of the Horizon Europe project FrontSeat (read more) was the virtual invited session on the “Open Science under Horizon Europe Project FrontSeat” presented by Silvia Sofianos (CVTI – The Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, Bratislava, Slovakia). The presentation provided very interesting perspectives on how the initiative aligns with the principles and objectives set forth under the Horizon Europe framework. The session not only enriched the participants’ understanding of Open Science but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the broader implications of Project FrontSeat within the European research landscape.

Abstract:
This talk delves into the multifaceted landscape of Open
Science. We’ll explore the core principles, traversing the data life
cycle from creation to sharing. We’ll discuss the costs associated with
effective data management and the crucial role of Data Management Plans
(DMPs) within the Horizon Europe framework. The concept of a DMP as a
dynamic document will be emphasized, highlighting its ongoing evolution
throughout the research process. We’ll delve into the distinction
between Open and FAIR data, clarifying their nuances. Finally, we’ll
conclude by exploring the realm of Open Access publishing, emphasizing
its significance in disseminating research findings openly. Through this
journey, you’ll gain valuable insights into navigating the open and
transparent world of scientific research.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon under grant no. 101079342 (Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries).
