We successfully organized another Consortium Meeting of the Project FrontSeat on February 21, 2025. The plenary meeting was organized in a virtual format by STUBA.

The morning sessions of our FrontSeat Consortium Meeting were packed with insightful discussions, key updates, and forward-thinking strategies aimed at enhancing our research capabilities.

The technical program began with a welcome and a brief approval of the Minutes of the Meeting, followed by an overview of recent developments presented by Prof. Miroslav Fikar. This session set the stage for deeper discussions on our ongoing initiatives and future directions.

Strengthening Research Management & Capacity Building

The first working package discussions (WP1 – WP3) revolved around capacity-building efforts, knowledge exchange, and academic engagement strategies:

  • Research Management Enhancement: Francesca Ceron provided insights into how we are strengthening research administration and collaboration frameworks.
  • Exchanges & Guest Lectures: Dr. Lenka Galčíková detailed past and upcoming opportunities for knowledge exchange and visiting expert lectures, fostering cross-institutional learning.
  • Special Sessions & Industry Engagement: Prof. Martin Mönnigmann and Prof. František Duchoň highlighted the significance of invited sessions and industrially-partnered seminars, reinforcing our commitment to bridging academia with real-world applications.
  • Summer Schools: Prof. Martin Mönnigmann presented the latest plans for summer schools, ensuring they continue to serve as incubators for emerging researchers.

PhD Program, Data Management & Communication Strategies

Next, the focus shifted to WP4 – WP5, covering essential academic and operational elements:

  • PhD Program Enhancements: Prof. Miroslav Fikar shared updates on PhD Study Program frameworks, aiming to increase scientific excellence, and improve student support and research outcomes.
  • Data Management Strategies: Prof. Martin Mönnigmann discussed best practices for handling and storing research data in alignment with Open Science principles.
  • Communication & Outreach: Assoc. Prof. Juraj Oravec summarized the communication activitiesa and dissemination strategies amplifying the project impact.
  • General Program Insights: Viltare Platzner wrapped up this segment with a broad discussion on administrative improvements and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Invited Session by Francesca Ceron: Open Science tools across the research lifecycle

One of the key highlights of the FrontSeat Consortium Meeting was the invited session by Francesca Ceron, who delivered an engaging talk on “Open Science tools across the research lifecycle”. This session explored innovative tools that support transparent, accessible, and reproducible research, reinforcing our collective move toward more open and collaborative scientific practices. By adopting Open Science practices, we move toward a more inclusive and collaborative research environment, breaking down barriers to knowledge and fostering global scientific progress.

General Assembly Meeting

The morning concluded with a General Assembly led by Prof. Miroslav Fikar, Prof. Gabriele Pannocchia, Prof. Martin Mönnigmann, and Viltare Platzner. This session provided a platform for institutional representatives to align on strategic goals, discuss administrative matters, and outline future initiatives critical to our continued success.
