Prof. Miroslav Fikar, coordinator of the FrontSeat project, offers a comprehensive summary of recent progress, key outcomes, and strategic insights as the project enters its final stage. Over the duration of the project FrontSeat, the consortium advanced scientific knowledge, strengthened international collaboration, and enhanced the visibility of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava’s excellence in automation and control within the Horizon Europe framework. The final phase was marked by significant milestones, including the successful organisation of major international events such as PC25 and DYCOPS 2025, active contributions to key conferences, and impactful knowledge-transfer initiatives like the summer school at Ruhr University Bochum, the Research Seminar on Smart Cybernetics, and participation in European Night of Science 2025. Scientific exchanges with partners from Pisa, Ilmenau, Shanghai, and others further enriched our research and strengthened long-term cooperation. FrontSeat has fulfilled its mission of fostering innovation, advancing research, and building collaborative networks that will continue to support progress in smart process control beyond the project’s lifetime, with its legacy enduring through the partnerships established, the knowledge generated, and the ongoing collaboration among participating institutions.
