On June 13, we organized a scientific seminar on “Use of PLC for sequential control applications“. The scientific seminar was led by Paisan Kittisupakorn, a professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand and Sirikanya Singcuna a lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. The scientific seminar was organized in the framework of the FrontSeat project as part of the seminar series on “Research Seminar on Smart Cybernetics”.

Abstract:

Use of PLC for sequential control applications CODESYS and Galileo together are applied in various controller applications tested on a benchmark. CODESYS is software for programming controller applications with a graphic visualization tool and simulation mode. The three programming languages: LD, FBD, and SFC, were used for many projects, for example, melamine tableware production, cutting machine process, and PID control process. PLC modules were addressed to connect and perform the tasks on the benchmark. The tasks were then enhanced by adding the HMI panel of operation using the Galileo visualization software. The visualization software, Galileo, was used to design the HMI panel on the benchmark. Various control commands and displays can be chosen and customized according to the needs. A symbol configuration in CODESYS must be executed to prepare symbols to transfer to GALILEO.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon under grant no. 101079342 (Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries).
